The most recommended breast pumps 2024
DO YOU NEED A BREAST PUMP?
Breast pumps are used to express breastmilk, which can then refrigerated or frozen for future use in a bottle. Pumping is also useful if you’re away from your baby for any time and want to avoid an uncomfortable build up of milk or mastitis. Milk supply can also sometimes be boosted by regular use of a breast pump. They can be electric or manual. It’s also possible to express milk by hand.
Electric breast pumps
Electric breast pumps can be single or double. A double saves time as you can tackle both breasts at once. For occasional pumping, a single should be fine.
Electric pumps are more expensive than manual pumps but are generally faster at expressing milk and usually have adjustable levels of speed and suction. To make life even easier you can also buy breast pump bras that enable hands-free pumping.
If you’re doing a lot of expressing you might want to consider buying or renting a hospital grade electric pump.
