6 of the best baby formula milk powder dispensers 2024
WHAT ARE MILK POWDER DISPENSERS?
Milk powder dispensers are small pots for holding baby formula powder.
Why are they useful?
Milk powder dispensers are handy for transporting portions of baby formula or for having a pre-measured pot of formula ready for night feeds. Just make sure the pot is completely dry before filling otherwise the powder will clump or stick to the sides.
What are the different types of dispensers?
There are three different types:
A pot with different sections for holding pre-measured portions. The sections are sometimes removable so the container can be converted into a snack pot. For pouring, each section has a spout or there is one spout for the pot which can be moved from section to section.
Individual pots. Sometimes these can be screwed together for transportation. Each pot may also fit inside a baby bottle.
Pots with no sections but which have a scoop and a scoop leveller. So you can fill it with powdered formula and then measure it out when needed.
Do you need to sterilise formula powder dispensers?
Opinion is divided on this. The NHS advise that all feeding equipment is sterilised until a child is 12 months old but they don’t specifically mention formula powder pots.
I asked Tommee Tippee and MAM, who both make very popular dispensers. Tommee Tippee said that it is not necessary to sterilise them as formula is not sterile at that point. Just simply wash and dry after each use. However, MAM did advise sterilising their milk powder boxes.
So it’s down to personal preference. The most important thing is that the water used with the powder is 70˚C or higher as this will kill any bacteria in the formula.

FROM THE BLOG
Around 20% of babies will suffer from colic, which is characterised by excessive crying. Mine was one of them. Somewhat unbelievably, the exact cause is unknown but there are many remedies you can try. My research uncovered 22 of them. Here is a review of each and the science (if any) behind them.
