5 of the best baby saline nasal drops 2024
WHAT ARE BABY NASAL DROPS AND SPRAYS?
When babies have colds, a blocked nose can be uncomfortable for them and disturb their sleep. Saline drops contain a purified salt solution which can loosen nasal mucus and ease congestion. Once the mucus is loosened you could also use a nasal aspirator to extract it.
HOW DO YOU USE THEM?
With the drops, gently insert the pipette into the nose and squeeze the contents out. The sprays are squirted into the nose. Ones for babies have a very gentle and fine spray.
Calpol recommend you lay a child under two down and turn their head to one side when you administer the drops or spray.
Sterimar say to lay the baby down on their side or sit up with their head tilted to one side.
Check the packaging for the full instructions but they can usually be used as often as required.
ARE THEY SAFE TO USE?
Saline nasal sprays are 100% natural and safe to use from birth. If their congestion persists, consult with your doctor.
OTHER WAYS TO HELP A BABY WITH A COLD BREATH MORE EASILY
A humidifier adds moisture to the air and can loosen mucus and vapour products like a chest rub or a vapour plug-in can also help a baby with a blocked nose.

Around 20% of babies will suffer from colic, which is characterised by excessive crying. Mine was one of them. Somewhat unbelievably, the exact cause is unknown but there are many remedies you can try. My research uncovered 22 of them. Here is a review of each and the science (if any) behind them.
